What do I need to open an account?
This article explains what to expect when you open a Send account, whether you're signing up as an individual or for a business. Specific requirements can vary depending on your account type and the checks needed.
Before you start
- Decide whether you're opening a personal account or a business account. See Who can open an account with Send?
- You will be asked to provide your:
- Full legal name
- Dates of birth
- Residential addresses
- Contact details
- Have access to your phone and the email address you want to use to sign up.
- You'll be guided through identity verification, and may be asked to provide a valid government-issued photo ID.
How to create an account
Step 1: Sign up and verify your contact details
To get started, you'll:
- Create your login - enter your email, choose a password, and accept the terms and conditions.
- Verify your email - enter the code we send you.

Step 2: Set up multi-factor authentication (MFA)
You'll need an authenticator app on your phone to set up MFA. This keeps your account secure.
Step 3: Tell us about you
Select your country of residence, then enter your full legal name, residential address and phone number.
Important: Please enter your full legal name exactly as shown on your ID. If they don't match, we may not be able to verify your identity.

Step 4: Verify your identity
You'll be guided through identity verification step by step. As part of this, you may be asked to:
- Provide a government-issued photo ID.
- Take a selfie or short liveness video.
- Provide a proof of address document to help us verify your address details.

Step 5: Business accounts - additional details
If you're opening a business account, we will ask for business registration details and information about the people who own or control the business. Additional documents may also be required depending on your business structure. We'll guide you through what's needed during sign-up.

- Once you've signed up, we'll guide you through identity verification step by step.
- The time it takes can vary depending on the account type and the checks required.

Common questions
My ID has expired.
- We can only accept ID that is currently valid.
- Provide a current, valid photo ID instead, and we'll continue your verification.
My ID photo was rejected.
- This usually happens when the photo is blurry, has glare, or doesn't show all four corners of the document.
- Take a new photo in good lighting, with the full ID clearly visible, and upload it again.
You've asked me for more documents.
- Sometimes we need additional information to complete our checks. What we ask for depends on the outcome of those checks.
- Upload the requested documents as soon as possible so your review can continue.
