RTGS payments
RTGS (Real-Time Gross Settlement) is a bank-to-bank transfer that is typically used for large-value payments, such as property settlements. This article helps you if your bank has asked you to send a payment to your Send wallet by RTGS. It explains what RTGS means and how to set it up.
Before you start
- You need an active Send account with an AUD wallet.
- Your bank should have specifically asked you to use RTGS. If they have not, you do not need to choose this option.
- For large or unusual payments, including some property-related payments, Send may request additional information or supporting documents to verify the source of funds before the payment is credited to your wallet. Please be ready to provide documents if we ask.
- Your bank may charge a fee to send an RTGS payment. Please check with your bank before you send.
How to set up an RTGS payment
Step 1: Open your wallet
- Log in to Send.
- Go to your wallet page.
- Find your AUD wallet.
[Suggested visual: add a screenshot of the wallet page showing the AUD balance.]
Step 2: Select "Add funds"
- Go to the ‘Add funds to your wallet’ section under the buttons. From there, you’ll see a Change button that allows you to switch to RTGS.
- Alternatively, click Add Funds first. The user will need to click “I Understand” before the Change button becomes visible.
[Suggested visual: add a screenshot of the "Add funds" option below the balance.]
Step 3: Change the pay-in method to RTGS
- Select the Change button.
- A dialog will open with the available pay-in options.
- Select the RTGS option if it is shown.
[Suggested visual: add a screenshot of the change dialog with the RTGS toggle.]
Step 4: Use the RTGS bank details
- Send will show you the bank details to give to your bank.
- Use the bank details exactly as they appear in Send.
- Tell your bank you want to send the payment by RTGS.
If RTGS is not shown
If RTGS is not available as a self-serve option for your wallet, Send will display a message with the contact details to use. Please contact us using the details shown in that message.
What happens next
- The time it takes for funds to reach your Send wallet depends on:
- when your bank sends the payment, including their RTGS cut-off times,
- how quickly the payment is matched to your wallet, and
- any additional checks Send may need to complete.
- After your bank sends the payment, we may contact you if we need more information or supporting documents to verify the payment.
- Your wallet balance will update once the payment has been received and verified.
- If you need an update on your payment status, please contact our support team and have your bank's transaction reference ready.
