Opening an account for a Business.

This article walks you through how to open a Send account for your business, what you'll need ready, and what happens after you submit your application.

Before you start

  • Authority to open and manage an account on behalf of the business. Depending on the business structure, you may be a director, partner, trustee or another person who has been formally authorised. We may ask for evidence of your authority. If you're not sure, see Can I open an account for someone else?
  • Have your business registration details handy (for example, your ABN or ACN for Australian businesses).
  • Have details ready for the relevant owners, directors, or controllers of the business, including:
    • Full legal names
    • Dates of birth
    • Residential addresses
    • Phone numbers
    • Email addresses
  • Use an email address you can access and verify.
  • Have your mobile phone or tablet nearby. You'll need it to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA).

Send can support a range of Australian business and entity types, including:

  • Sole trader
  • Company
  • Partnership
  • Trust
  • Co-operative
  • Indigenous corporation
  • Joint venture
  • Your business must be registered in a country that Send currently supports. See Countries we can onboard businesses from and why.

How to open a Send account for your business.

Step 1: Choose your account type and confirm authority to act

  • Select Business as your account type.
  • Confirm that you have authority to open and manage the account on behalf of the business.
  • Tick the box to confirm, then select Continue.
  • If you can't confirm you have authority to act, you won't be able to continue. See Can I open an account for someone else? for more information.

What does "authorised to act on behalf of the business" mean?

Having authority means that the business has permitted you to open and manage the account on its behalf. Your authority may arise from your position within the business or from a formal authorisation. Depending on the business structure and your role, we may ask you to provide supporting evidence.
