How to add another account to a recipient
This article shows you how to add another bank account to a recipient you have already saved.
Before you start
- The recipient must be Active. If they are Pending, To do, or Inactive, you will not be able to add another account yet.
- Have the recipient's new bank details ready. The information we ask for depends on the bank's country and currency.
- For some countries, we may also ask for additional details before you can save the account.
How to add another account
Step 1: Find your recipient
- Log in to your Send account.
- Go to the Recipients page.
- Stay on the Active tab (this is the default).
- Select the recipient you want to add an account to.

Step 3: Choose the bank's country and currency
- In Where their bank is located, choose the country.
- In What currency you will be sending, choose the currency.
- Click Next.
Step 4: We may ask you to create a new recipient instead
- In some cases, you may not be able to add another account to an existing recipient.
- If that happens, we will let you know on screen and ask you to create a new recipient instead.
- For help, see "How to add a new recipient".
Step 5: Confirm the recipient's details
- If the recipient is an individual, you will see their full name and address.
- If the recipient is a business, you will see the registered business name and registered business address.
- Check the details are correct, then click Next.

Step 6: Add tax details (if needed)
- For some countries, we may ask for additional details before you can save the account.
- If we need tax details, we will ask for them next.
- For more on the type of tax code we may ask for, see the Tax codes articles in the Help Centre.
Step 7: Enter the new bank details
- Account name (the name on their bank account).
- Enter the bank codes and account details shown on screen.
- The fields will change based on the country and currency you selected.
- Check every field carefully.

Step 8: Check the bank validation
For some countries, we automatically check the bank code you entered. We do this for:
- ABA routing number (United States)
- BSB (Australia)
- Clearing Code (Canada)
- Account number (New Zealand)
- Sort Code (United Kingdom)
- SWIFT/BIC (many countries)
- Bank Code (South Africa)
When validation is available, you will see a panel showing the bank's name and country. We will also let you know if the bank is located in a different country to the one you chose.
- If the bank name and country look right, click Next.
- If anything looks wrong, check the details with your recipient before continuing.
Step 9: Save and pay
- The new account is saved against the recipient.
- Once an account is approved and active, it will appear in the Pay drop-down.
- To pay this account, open the recipient's page and click the Pay drop-down on the top right.
What happens next
- The new account will go through a compliance check.
- While the check is in progress, the account will not be available to send money to.
- We will email you with an update once the review is complete.
- If we need more information, we will email you, and the account may show as Pending.
