How long will my payment take?
When you send a payment with Send, you'll want to know when the money will arrive. This article explains what can affect how long your payment takes and how to track it in your Send account.
Before you start
This article is about sending money to a recipient. If you need to know when a deposit into your Send wallet would arrive see, Adding money into your account or wallet.
Make sure that:
- Your Send account is active and your logged in.
- Your recipient has been added and verified. See, How long does it take to verify my recipient?.
- You know which currency you are sending and which currency your recipient will receive.
- You have planned how you will fund your wallet, and roughly when those funds will arrive.
How to know how long your payment will take to process.
Step 1: Know the typical timing
Payments are typically received within 24 - 48 hours. Some transactions can even be received within the first 24 hours, depending on currency, destination, banking partners, and other factors (such as cut-off times and compliance checks).
The size of your payment alone does not change these typical timings. The same secure process applies whether you are sending a small payment or a large international transfer. For more on safety, see Is it safe to send large amounts with Send?.
How long your payment takes depends on the type of payment. There are three main types:
- International transfers (with currency conversion)
Sending money to a recipient overseas, usually with a currency conversion (for example, AUD to USD).
Usually around 2 business days. Some destination countries or banks may take a little longer. - Local payments (same currency, same country)
Sending money in the same currency to a recipient in the same country (for example, AUD to an Australian bank account).
Usually within a few hours on a business day. - Wallet to wallet transfers
Moving money between two of your own Send wallets in the same currency.
Usually within a 90 minutes to a few hours on a business day.
Step 2: Make sure your wallet has enough funds
Your payment can't be released until the wallet you are paying from has enough money in it. If you need to add funds to your wallet, the time it takes for the funds to arrive can vary depending on the bank you are sending from and the country the funds are coming from.

Step 3: Track your payment status in Send
Once your payment is on its way, you'll see one of these statuses next to it in your Send account:
- Pending - We have received your instruction and are completing the required checks. In some cases, we may need more information or documents before the payment can proceed.
- Sent - The payment has left Send and is on its way to your recipient's bank.

What happens next
Payment times can vary and are not guaranteed. How long your payment takes depends on factors such as:
- The payment type and the currencies involved.
- When your wallet is funded.
- The destination country and the recipient's bank.
- Banking cut-off times, weekends and public holidays.
- Any checks or information we may need to complete.
A few important things to keep in mind:
- Business days only - Banks generally do not process payments on weekends or public holidays in either country. A payment booked late in the week may not move until the next business day.
- Receiving bank timing - After Send has released your payment, the recipient's bank still needs to process it before the money lands in their account. These timeframes are set by the receiving bank’s processes and outside of Send’s control.
- Intermediary or receiving bank fees - The recipient's bank or any intermediary bank may deduct fees that are outside Send's control. As a result, the recipient may receive less than the amount sent.
- Tasks and information requests - If we need more information or documents to complete the required checks, your payment may be delayed and may not proceed until the review is completed. See "Why do I have to provide information or documents to make a payment?" for more.
You can track the payment status at any time in your Send account.
Common questions
My payment still says Pending - is something wrong?
- Pending means we are completing the required checks on your payment.
- If we need more information or documents from you, you'll see a task in your Send account. Complete the task as soon as you can so the payment can continue to be reviewed.
- If your payment remains in Pending and you have not received a request for information, contact our support team.
It's been longer than expected - what should I do?
- Check whether there is a weekend or public holiday in your country or your recipient's country. These can delay the payment.
- Check the status in your Send account. If it shows Sent, the payment has left Send and the receiving bank is processing it.
- If your payment is delayed after being marked Sent, contact our support team and we can investigate the payment status.
My payment shows as Sent, but my recipient hasn't received the money yet
- Once a payment is Sent, it has left Send and is being processed by the banking network.
- The time it takes to land in the recipient's account can vary depending on the destination country and the recipient's bank.
- If your recipient still hasn't received the money, contact our support team and we can investigate the payment status.
Will weekends or public holidays delay my payment?
- Yes. Banks do not process payments on weekends or public holidays in either country, so your payment may move on the next business day.
- Wallet to wallet transfers inside Send are not affected by external banking hours, but timing can still vary.
