Can my business open a Send account?

Send supports business customers in Australia and may be able to consider business customers in some other locations depending on their connection to Australia, the products they need, and our legal, compliance, risk and operational requirements. This article explains how business onboarding works and what to do if your business is based outside Australia.

Before you start

  • This article is for people opening a business account.
  • Country availability may change over time. If your country isn't currently available in sign-up, please contact our support team for the latest information.
  • All business applications are subject to identity, business, compliance and risk checks.
  • When we refer to where a business is based, we may consider where the business is registered, incorporated, operating, managed or physically located.

In Australia, SendFX Limited holds Australian Financial Services Licence number 509635 and is registered with the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre, known as AUSTRAC.

Where we currently onboard businesses

Businesses based in Australia

Send’s standard business onboarding pathway is for businesses based in Australia.

If your business is based in Australia, you can continue with the business sign-up process.

We’ll review your application as part of our normal onboarding checks.

Businesses based in New Zealand

New Zealand-based businesses cannot currently sign up through the standard business onboarding pathway.

If your business is based in New Zealand, please contact our support team. We’ll help you understand whether your business can be considered for onboarding and what information may be required.

Products available to New Zealand-based businesses may be limited.

Businesses based in other countries

Send may be able to consider business applications from outside Australia and New Zealand on a case-by-case basis.

This may apply where the business contacts Send directly, has a genuine connection to Australia, and meets our legal, compliance, risk and operational requirements.

A genuine connection to Australia may include, for example:

  • An Australian bank account in the business’s name
  • Ongoing business activity with Australian customers or suppliers
  • Employment, contracting or commercial activity connected to Australia
  • Australian investments, assets, liabilities or expenses
  • A planned move, relocation or business expansion involving Australia

These are examples only. Each application is reviewed on its own facts.

Having a connection to Australia does not guarantee that we can onboard your business, but it helps us understand whether Send may be the right service for your needs.

Jurisdictions with restricted onboarding

Some jurisdictions have restricted onboarding because Send does not currently hold the local licences or authorisations required to provide services there.

This currently includes businesses based in the United States and the United Arab Emirates.

If your business is based in one of these jurisdictions, please contact our support team.

Why we ask where your business is based

Where your business is based helps us understand:

  • Which products may be available to you
  • Which legal and regulatory requirements apply
  • Whether we can complete the required checks
  • Whether we can support your account and transactions
  • Whether the countries, currencies and payment routes you need are available

Being approved for a Send business account does not automatically mean every country, currency or payment route will be available.

We’ll let you know if we need more information about your business or a payment you want to make.

What happens next

  • If your business is based in Australia, you can continue setting up your account online.
  • If your business is based in New Zealand, please contact our support team so we can talk you through the next steps.
  • If your business is based in another country, please contact our support team. We may be able to consider your application on a case-by-case basis where your business has a genuine connection to Australia.
  • All applications are subject to identity, business, and compliance checks, even where your country is supported.
